Dahu Park is one of Taipei’s nicest parks, especially if you visit on a bright sunny day. Known for it’s iconic “moon bridge” and serene lake, Dahu Park is the perfect spot for a nice afternoon stroll.
This is no small park, occupying nearly 135,000 square meters of land. There’s a small lake, unique bridge, lots of greens, a short hiking trail, recreation center and a pagoda-looking pier.
If you’re in the Neihu neighborhood, then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to drop by and check out this gorgeous Taipei park. Let’s see what Dahu Park has to offer.

How to Get to Dahu Park
Getting to Dahu Park is simple, convenient and cheap. You’ll want to make your way to the MRT Brown Line (Wenhu Line) and head towards Neihu (Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center if you’re coming from the city center).
Take the Dahu Park MRT Station and you’re there! It’s that simple. There’s only one exit so you’re not going to get lost. Go down the escalators and you’re at the entrance of the park.
Dahu Park MRT Station
Before you head to the park, I would recommend checking out the MRT station (yes, really). There are nice, large panoramic windows with amazing views of the park (and Mt. Bailushi behind the park).
Don’t believe me? See for yourself…
On a hot day in Taipei, I like to make a stop here and sit on the benches while I cool off. It’s probably a good idea because Taipei’s sun and humidity combo is pretty rough.
Other than this, there’s not much to check out at the MRT Station. Head down the escalators to really start exploring this stunning park.
Strolling Through Dahu Park
As soon as you exit the MRT station, you’re greeted with a Dahu Park sign (大湖公園) next to a brick trail and an open green field. Take the brick trail to the heart of the park.
There are several benches and trees along the path in case the sun gets too intense or you just need to catch a breath. But don’t worry, there are even more benches when you get to the actual park.
The trail will lead you to the serene lake. Have a look around and you’ll see the famous Moon Bridge, the Nine Curves Bridge (pier) and some pagodas around the park.
It’s really beautiful and I would highly recommend picking a nice day to head over there.
There is a path that goes through the Moon Bridge and around the lake. Taking this trail to stroll by the lake is a great date idea in Taipei.
This lake is known for it’s flocks of egrets, which are herons with a white plumage. They can be found all around Taipei (and Taiwan) including the lake inside Daan Forest Park.
Fun fact – the park is called Dahu Park, but the lake is called “Egret Lake” for obvious reasons. However, they’re not the only birds you’ll find around here. A number of waterfowls like to hang around this lake.
There are a few small pagodas around the park and lake, which are great spots for resting or trying to escape the beaming sunlight.
Behind the pagoda (in the picture) and across the lake is the Nine Curves Bridge. Though they call it a bridge, it’s really more like a pier or pavilion.
And of course, there’s the Moon Bridge that you need to cross at least once. It’s what everyone talks about when they mention Dahu Park. Overlooking the lake, it’s also a nice selfie spot.
And…that’s pretty much it for Dahu Park. It’s certainly not an all-day trip but still worth checking out if you have the time.
Attractions Near Dahu Park
So you’ve traveled all the way to Neihu for Dahu Park but you don’t want to head back to your area yet? Not to worry, there are plenty of great attractions near the park.
In fact, if the idea of a Taipei park tour sounds interesting to you, then you’re in the right spot for it. There are plenty of nice parks nearby, though Dahu Park is the most famous.
Bihu Trail
Bihu Hiking Trail is a short and easy trail that also has a park. It’s very similar to Dahu, where the park is centered around a large pond/small lake. It’s not a big tourist spot, but you’ll find plenty of locals here.
If you come in the evening, you’ll see many seniors lounging around and fishing from the lake! Yes, fishing is actually permitted at this lake. If you’ve got your fishing gear, join them.
To get here, you’ll want to get back on the MRT Brown Line and take two stops to the Wende MRT Station. It’s just a short walk from there.
Da Gou Riverside Park
Da Gou Riverside Park is one of the newer hiking trails to open up in Neihu District. Since opening to the public, it’s been exploding in popularity, and rightfully so!
The hike is not intense at all. It makes for a good leisurely stroll. But the scenery is gorgeous with waterfalls, large rocks, colorful plants and of course, green trees.
The closest MRT station to Da Gou is Dahu Park MRT Station. However, it’ll still take you around 20 minutes or so to walk there. If you choose to take a taxi (recommended), it’ll just take around 5 minutes.
Other Parks Near Dahu
There are many other smaller parks you can find around Dahu Park. If you want, you can check out Jinrui Park, Bishan Park, Chenggong Park and Yanboting Park.
Most of these parks are small. Much smaller than Dahu Park. But if you’re visiting with kids, then they’re not bad options as some of them have a playground for kids.
Hotels Near Dahu Park
Staying in Dahu Park means staying in Neihu District. It’s not a highly recommended place to stay, but it’s affordable. For our recommendations on where to stay in Taipei, check out this guide.
Neihu is not a good place for first timers because you’re relatively far from the heart of the city (where you want to be). And unless you’re experienced at navigating through Taipei’s transportation system, I’d suggest staying elsewhere.
However, if you do plan to stay in Neihu, it’s a clean and safe area that would be a great option for some tourists.
La Maison Hotel
La Maison is a really nice budget hotel situated in Neihu District. Though it’s a 10 minute ride to Dahu Park, it’s much closer to the city center and you would probably be better of here.
It has its own restaurant and the rooms are really nice. I’m not sure about you, but I love rooms with nice bathrooms. And, the La Maison hotel certainly has a gorgeous one.
The Koos Hotel
This budget hotel isn’t as nice as La Maison, nor are the rooms as big (it’s on the smaller side). However, for those that want extra convenience to Dahu Park, this is the place to stay.
Just how close is it? It’s a 2 minute walk to the park. It really doesn’t get much closer than that. Being a 5 minute walk to Dahu Park MRT Station is also a great plus. Being next to a station means it’ll be very convenient to check out the other attractions in Taipei.
